As Diana struggles to come to terms with her daughter's death, she meets Zach, a single father who has lost his wife to cancer. Zach is the only person who seems to understand Diana's pain. They begin a relationship, but it is not without its complications.
Diana's mother, Maureen, is also struggling to cope with Ruthie's death. Maureen is a devout Catholic, and she believes that Ruthie is in heaven. But Diana is not so sure. She is angry at God for taking her daughter away from her.
As the novel progresses, Diana must confront her own beliefs about life and death. She must also learn to forgive herself for the mistakes she has made. In the end, Diana finds a way to heal her broken heart and move on with her life.
So Before I Let You Go is a beautifully written and emotionally resonant novel. Picoult does an excellent job of exploring the complex emotions of grief, loss, and redemption. This is a must-read for anyone who has ever loved and lost.
